Retention

Retention is a company's ability to keep its customers over time so they keep buying. The metric is often measured as the share of customers still active after a given period. High retention is typically more profitable than constantly acquiring new customers, because existing customers are cheaper to activate.

An online store can strengthen its retention with a loyalty programme and relevant newsletters that remind customers to come back.
