Upselling is a technique in which a customer is offered a more expensive or more advanced version of the product they are about to buy. The purpose is to increase order value by highlighting the benefits of the better alternative. Upselling works best when it feels like a genuine improvement rather than pressure.
An online store might suggest a model with a longer warranty on the product page just before the customer adds the cheaper version to the cart.
