Meta robots

Meta robots is an HTML tag that gives search engines instructions on how to handle an individual page, for example whether it may be indexed or followed. The best known values are index, noindex, follow, and nofollow. The tag gives more precise, page-level control than robots.txt.

A thank-you page after a purchase can be set to noindex with meta robots so it doesn't appear in search results.
