Mobile-first indexing means that Google primarily uses the mobile version of a page for indexing and ranking. The approach reflects the fact that most searches today are performed on mobile devices. It makes it essential that important content and structured data also exist in the mobile version.

If content is only shown on the desktop version, it risks being overlooked under mobile-first indexing.
