Server response time

Server response time is how long it takes a server to start sending a response after receiving a request. It is often measured as Time To First Byte and affects the overall perceived speed. Slow response times are often caused by heavy code, database work, or inadequate hosting.

A response time of more than a second before the first byte often points to uncached database work that could be offloaded with a caching layer.
