SQL (Sales Qualified Lead)

In a marketing context, SQL stands for Sales Qualified Lead, not to be confused with the programming language SQL. It is a lead the sales team has judged ready for direct contact, typically because it shows concrete buying intent beyond mere interest. An SQL is one step closer to a sale than an MQL.

A lead that asks for a price or a demo is often qualified directly as an SQL rather than an MQL.
