Above the Fold

Above the fold refers to the area of a page that is visible without scrolling. The term comes from newspaper layout, where the top half of the front page was visible on the newsstand.

The most important message and a clear call-to-action button are often placed at the top, so they are caught immediately on both mobile and desktop.
