Hard bounce

A hard bounce is a permanent delivery failure, typically because the email address doesn't exist or the domain doesn't exist. Addresses that produce a hard bounce should be removed from the list immediately, since continued attempts damage sender reputation. Most email platforms automatically flag such addresses as invalid.

An email sent to an employee who has left the company and had their account closed results in a hard bounce.
