Merge tag

A merge tag is a placeholder in an email template that gets replaced with data about the individual recipient when the email is sent. Tags pull from fields in the contact profile such as first name, city, or most recent order. They are the building blocks of personalisation and dynamic content.

The template contains a merge tag for first name that becomes each recipient's actual name when the email goes out.
