Tracking pixel

A tracking pixel is a small, invisible image embedded in an email that registers when the email is opened. When the image is fetched from the server, the open is counted. The method is the basis for open rate, but has become less accurate as some mail clients now preload images on the recipient's behalf.

When the recipient opens the email, the tracking pixel loads and the platform registers an open.
